What is Humans?
Humans is the membership platform that runs Nobodies Collective, the Spanish nonprofit behind the Nowhere burn. It manages the full lifecycle of a burn organization — from a volunteer's first signup through teams, shifts, tickets, governance, and money — in one place, instead of a drawer full of spreadsheets.
Free and open source (AGPL-3.0) · built by burners, for burns
People
Self-service signup, member profiles, and consent tracking. GDPR is built in, not bolted on: every member can export their data or ask to be forgotten, and the system handles both. Onboarding runs itself — a new volunteer completes a profile, signs the consents, and is provisioned automatically.
Organize
Teams with their own pages and Google Workspace resources, volunteer shift scheduling with live coverage numbers, theme camps, city planning on a real map, and a what's-on event guide. Who does what, where, and when — visible to everyone.
Money
A members' store, expense reports with receipts and approval flow, per-team budgets, and a live mirror of the association's accounting ledger. The board sees where the money is without asking anyone to update a sheet.
Govern
Board roles with start and end dates, membership-tier applications with board voting, and a full audit trail of every automated action. When someone asks "who approved that, and when" — the answer is one search away.
Communicate
Transactional email with a visible outbox, campaign sends to synced audiences, in-app notifications, and the whole member-facing UI in six languages (English, Spanish, Catalan, German, French, Italian).
At the gate
Ticketing with vendor imports and transfers, a gate check-in kiosk, barcode scanning from a phone browser, and early-entry lists. The gate crew works from live data, not a printout from last Tuesday.
Humans for your burn
Humans is built as independent sections — People, Teams, Shifts, Tickets, Store, Expenses, Governance, and more — each owning its own data and talking to the others through narrow interfaces.
The sections live as separate projects in the codebase; that structure is the roadmap: a deployment per burn, configured with the sections your org actually uses. Run People + Shifts + Gate and skip the rest. Use Microsoft 365 instead of Google Workspace. Add your language. The modularity is real today; per-burn configuration is where the project is headed.
